Es ist voller Easter Eggs, ohne dass die Show mich nervigerweise darauf hinweist, dass jedes Detail mich anschreit.

True Pain is an amazing film

This film has a consistently engaging, emotional, and funny script

Eisenberg also wrote the screenplay for this film and directed it. He knocked it out of the park with both of those roles. The film deals with some tough topics and handles them all so tastefully. This is a film that clearly meant something to everyone who made it, and I believe you can see that in the final product. Many of the actions that Cardinal Lawrence and the rest of the cardinals take during the film’s conclave process are true and accurate to the Catholic faith and centuries of tradition. After the Pope dies, his ring (called the Fisherman’s Ring) is removed and destroyed; this is to prevent it from being used to forge the Pope’s seal on documents. The Vatican makes an official announcement that the throne of the Holy See (the governing body of the Catholic Church) is vacant. The College of Cardinals is sequestered in apartments (the Domus Sanctae Marthae, the House of Saint Martha) to eat and sleep between votes.

The film is nicely paced

Good script brought to life by a cast of great actors. It is well shot and framed. The costume design and overall color palette are visually pleasing. The only negative I can think of in the early stages of the film is the soundtrack. Soundtracks of this style (IMHO) were never very good in the beginning, but by this point they are tired, overused and, frankly, monotonous.

He is a clumsy guy and not at all intelligent

There is a point where the film takes a complete turn in the final act and becomes absurd and pointless. A real shame, because up until this point it is plausible and believable. It ends up leaving a bad taste in your mouth, as it gives the impression that there is a specific Hollywood agenda being pushed here. And this review is written by someone who would consider themselves to have fairly liberal views in general. But the ending of this film is presumptuous and subversive in the most ungainly way.
